Humpback whales live for about 50 to 80 years, they measure between 11 to 18 meters and weigh between 24 to 40 tons. Humpback whales primarily feed on krill and small fish from shallow depths, which they filter through their baleen plates in polar waters before starting their migration. Humpback whales gather strength in polar waters to prepare for their long migration and breeding period, during which they will not feed despite the efforts exerted.

Sperm whale

Sperm whales live up to around 70 years, measure between 9 and 20 meters, and weigh between 10 and 57 tons. They feed on cephalopods, octopuses, and squids hunted at great depths (between 500 and 2000 meters).

These dolphins live up to around 40 years, measure between 1.6 and 2.6 meters, and weigh between 90 and 119 kg. They feed mainly on fish swimming near the surface (mackerel, flying fish…), but also on crustaceans and cephalopods in coastal areas.

Orcas live up to around 60–90 years, measure between 5 and 9.8 meters in length, and weigh between 2.5 and 9.5 tons. The orca is a carnivore, capable of migrating if food resources become scarce, and feeds on cetaceans, fish, mollusks, turtles, seals, sea lions, and seabirds.

These dolphins live up to around 32–48 years, measure between 2 and 2.8 meters, and weigh between 90 and 160 kilograms. They are carnivorous and feed mainly on fish and cephalopods.

BRYDE'S WHALE Balaenoptera edeni.webp

Bryde's whales, also known as tropical rorquals, live up to around 50 years, measure between 11 and 16.5 meters, and weigh between 25 and 40 tons. Their diet consists of schooling fish such as sardines, anchovies, mackerel, and herrings, which they hunt by lunging into fish schools. In the pelagic environment, they also feed on krill, copepods, and pelagic red crabs.

These dolphins live up to around 35–50 years, measure between 1.9 and 4.1 meters, and weigh between 150 and 650 kg. They are carnivorous and feed mainly on fish swimming near the surface (mackerel, flying fish, etc.), but also on crustaceans and cephalopods in coastal areas.

False killer whales live up to around 60 years, measure between 3.5 and 6 meters, and weigh between 0.9 and 2 tons. They are carnivorous, may occasionally prey on small dolphins, but mainly feed on fish such as bonito and tuna, as well as mollusks.

Ces dauphins vivent jusqu’à environ 50 ans, mesurent entre 1,6 - 2,3 mètres et pèsent entre 100 et 140 kg. Proche des côtes, ils se nourrissent de poissons, crustacés et céphalopodes. Au large, leur régime alimentaire est plutôt constitué de poissons pélagiques et de calmars.

Minke whales, also known as Lesser rorquals, live for about 30 to 60 years, measure between 7 and 9.8 meters in length, and weigh between 5 and 10 tons. Their diet consists of krill, small fish, and cephalopods which they find on shallow banks.

These sperm whales measure between 2.1 and 2.7 meters in length and weigh between 135 and 270 kilograms. They are carnivorous and feed primarily on cephalopods. They are believed to be capable of diving up to 900 meters deep.
